Sunflower seeds were first brought to Europe from Mexico in the 16th century and were called "sun grass" or "Peruvian flower of the sun".

The Slavs learned about the sunflower in the 18th century, and primarily in Ukraine, where it was planted right next to houses.

This is probably the snack from which you simply cannot tear yourself away.

Plain and salted, peeled and shelled, roasted seeds are already waiting on the shelves of your supermarkets.
